OVERVIEW
American Mobile Satellite Corporation was established in 1988 and is headquartered in Reston, Va. American Mobile launched the world’s most powerful satellite-based mobile communications system during the fourth quarter of 1995. The company offers seamless mobile voice, data, digital broadcast dispatch, and position reporting to users in the 50 United States, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, and within 200 miles of the continental boundary waters of North America.
PRIMARY SHAREHOLDERS
Hughes Communications, Inc. of Long Beach, Calif. is the largest shareholder in American Mobile. Other primary stockholders include Singapore Telecommunications Ltd. of Singapore and AT&T Wireless Services of Seattle, Wash. American Mobile has been publicly traded on the NASDAQ National Market under the symbol SKYC since late 1993.
